 Michael Stuart, M.D.-----Team Physician Minimize

Dr. Michael Stuart is the Co-Director of the Sports Medicine Center, Professor of Orthopedic Surgery and the Vice-Chairman of the Department of Orthopedics at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Dr. Stuart is the USA Hockey Chief Medical Officer and a member of the Safety and Protective Equipment Committee. Dr. Stuart also serves as a consultant for the NHL Players Association and a Medical Supervisor for the International Ice Hockey Federation. He was the team physician for the Rochester Mustangs Hockey Team of the United States Hockey League (USHL) for 17 years. Dr. Stuart has also served as the team physician for numerous Olympic and National Teams, including the 2010 and 1994 USA Olympic Hockey Teams, the 2000 USA Men's National Team, the 2001 and 2002 USA Under 18 National Teams and the 2003 and 2004 USA Under 20 National Teams. His research has resulted in numerous publications on the epidemiology and prevention of ice hockey injuries. He was honored with the USA Hockey Excellence in Safety Award in 2008. Dr. Stuart and his wife Nancy have 4 children who play hockey. Mike played professional hockey for the St. Louis Blues and in Europe, Colin is a forward for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Mark is a defenseman for the Boston Bruins and Cristin played for the Boston College Women’s Team.

 Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine Center- Athletic Training Services Minimize

The Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine Center is a comprehensive diagnostic and treatment facility dedicated to improving the well being of athletic individuals. Its primary goal is to return the athlete to active participation quickly and safely. The staff of the Sports Medicine Center is comprised of orthopedic surgeons and physiatrists with specialized education in diagnosis and treatment of sports injuries. Physical therapists, athletic trainers, physician assistants, nurses, strength and conditioning specialists, dietitians and a sports psychologist support the physician staff.

 

The Sports Medicine Center actively participates in research and education to further meet the needs of injured athletes.
