OREGON, Wis. — Drew Schenkenberg made 32 saves and three players scored once each for the Rochester Ice Hawks in a 3-1 North American 3 Hockey League victory against the Wisconsin Whalers on Friday.
The Ice Hawks picked up their 10th victory of the season — tying last season’s record — thanks to the play of Schenkenberg and goals from defensemen Dylan Boysen and Ethan Sievek, and forward Willie Meyer.
Boysen opened the scoring 1:49 into the second period, but the Whalers answered less than a minute later on a goal from Anthony Fortin.
That’s how the score remained after two periods.
Sievek scored the game winner, his 12th of the season, at 13:35 of the third period, with assists from Ryley Cook and Sam Bjellum. Meyer added an empty-net goal in the final minute, also assisted by Bjellum.
Sievek and Charles Bill also had one assist each for the Ice Hawks (10-35-1 overall).
Wisconsin (17-23-5) received 30 saves from goalie Max McConnell.
The Ice Hawks and Whalers close the regular season tonight at 7 p.m.
