Ice Hawks add local players

The Rochester Ice Hawks have added a handful of familiar names to their roster.

Veteran forwards Skylar Watt and Colby Decarlo have re-joined the team, and Rochester John Marshall standouts Nick Hackman and Daylon Wolesky will play for the Ice Hawks on a before-and-after basis. They’ll leave the Hawks to join JM at the start of the high school season, then they’ll come back to the Hawks once JM’s season ends.

Decarlo, a 6-foot-1, 190-pounder from West Des Moines, Iowa, played in 46 games for the Ice Hawks a year ago. He scored eight goals and had 20 assists, as well as 127 penalty minutes. He had two assists in his first game back in a Hawks uniform, the team’s 8-4 loss at La Crosse last Friday.

Watt is a 6-foot, 170-pound forward from Mason City, Iowa. He was one of the team’s top goal scorers last season, when he had 13 goals and 25 points in 42 games. He recorded one assist against the Freeze last Friday.

Wolesky, a 17-year-old defenseman, and Hackman, a 17-year-old forward, joined the Ice Hawks in time for the game at La Crosse last week. Neither registered a point in their junior hockey debuts.
