A night after picking up their first win of the season Friday, the Rochester Ice Hawks were shut down and shut out by the Breezy Point North Stars, 12-0, in a North American 3 Hockey League game at the Rochester Recreation Center on Saturday.
The Ice Hawks put up four goals in an overtime victory at Breezy Point on Friday, but were blanked on 16 shot attempts Saturday.
Breezy Point scored three times in a span of 1:33 — the last of the three coming on a penalty shot by Austin Langworthy — and led 4-0 after one period Saturday. The North Stars (7-3-1 overall) added five goals in the second period and three in the third.
Josh Laven led the North Stars offensive attack with a hat trick and four assists, Tristyn Sabina had a goal and six assists, and Andrew Heckman had six assists. North Stars goalie Bronson Moore made 16 saves in the shutout.
Saywer Schmidt and Bailey Schmitz split time in goal, combining for 36 saves.
The Ice Hawks are back in action Friday at Alexandria. Their next home game is Oct. 29 against the North Iowa Bulls.
