Ice Hawks Clipped by WarHawks

The Rochester Ice Hawks fell behind by three goals in the first period Saturday and couldn’t recover in a 6-1 loss to the Willmar WarHawks in a North American 3 Hockey League game at the Rochester Recreation Center.

Jordan Cooper scored 4:28 into the game to put the WarHawks ahead for good.

Braden Shea scored twice for Willmar (3-0-0 overall), while Keegan Bauman, Max Oelkers and Peyton Bolstad scored once each. Shea and Oelkers scored power-play goals 68 seconds apart in the second period to make it 5-0.

Sly Rooney scored at the 8:40 mark of the second to get Rochester on the board.

Drew Schenkenberg had another strong game in goal for the Ice Hawks, making 52 saves. The Ice Hawks finished with 28 shots.

Rochester (1-3-0) plays at La Crosse at 7 p.m. Friday.
