Ice Hawks drop playoff opener


The Rochester Ice Hawks knew their task in the first round of the North American Tier 3 Hockey League playoffs would be tough going up against the North Iowa Bulls, the top team in the league.

The Ice Hawks fell into a major hole in the best-of-three series with a 10-1 loss to the Bulls in Iowa.

Austin Jackson scored three goals for the Bulls (42-2-3), one in each period. The Bulls led 4-0 in the first period before Trey McMillen scored the game’s lone goal for the Ice Hawks, assisted by Dominik Bogdzuil and Hunter Heightland.
