AFFTON, Mo. — The Rochester Ice Hawks couldn’t stop the St. Louis Jr. Blues’ offense over the weekend, dropping a pair of North American 3 Hockey League games. Rochester lost 13-4 on Saturday night and 6-1 on Sunday afternoon.
St. Louis scored twice in the first 3 minutes on Sunday for a quick 2-0 lead. Alex Tarr netted the Hawks’ lone goal at the 5:38 mark of the first period, but the Jr. Blues kept Rochester off the board after that.
Midwest Division-leading St. Louis (32-7-2 overall) led 4-1 after one period and 5-1 after two.
Bailey Schmitz made 38 saves for the Ice Hawks (7-34-1).
The Jr. Blues rolled to a 13-4 victory on Saturday evening. They led the Ice Hawks 2-1 after one period then scored eight times in the second period to take a 10-1 lead into the third.
Willie Meyer, Ethan Sievek and Alex Tarr had one goal each for Rochester, while Zach Curry had a goal and an assist. Colby Decarlo had two assists and Joe Puglise had one.
Rochester plays a two-game series at the Chicago Bulldogs on Friday and Saturday.
