Ice Hawks Overwhelmed by Whalers

The Rochester Ice Hawks were no match for the Wisconsin Whalers on Saturday, dropping a 7-2 decisions in North American 3HL action.

Wisconsin took a 3-1 lead into the the third period, then exploded for four more goals in the third period. The Whalers finished the game with a 47-40 advantage in shots on goal.

Rochester, 4-7-0 overall, got goals from Colby Decarlo and Zach Curry. Noah Roach and Michael Smits had assists.

Tait Carlson made 40 saves for the Ice Hawks. Whalers goalie Brendan Earls had 38 saves.

The Ice Hawks play at the New Ulm Steel at 7:10 p.m. Friday, then return home the following day to play the Steels in a 7:05 p.m. contest.
