Ice Hawks take ice without coach on the bench

The Rochester Ice Hawks took the ice for Game 2 of their opening-round NA3HL league playoff series tonight without Nick Fatis on the bench.

The team’s veteran head coach is taking a temporary medical leave. Fatis has been suffering all season from symptoms of post-concussion syndrome, and “things have gotten significantly worse in the last three weeks,” said his father, team president and general manager Michael “Doc” Fatis.

“We needed to get him off stressful duties and give him some time to heal.”
