This weekend the Wausau RiverWolves come to Rochester to close out the Ice Hawks 2017-18 regular season.  The RiverWolves (9-34-1) have wrapped up the final playoff slot in the Central Division.  They finish their regular season with Friday and Saturday game in Rochester and then play the Central Division’s # 1 seed North Iowa Bulls to finish their regular season.

The RiverWolves are in 4th place in the Cenral Division behind the No. Iowa Bulls, LaCrosse Freeze and the Wisconsin Whalers.  The RiverWolves are led by Coach Tim Brownell who guided them to the playoffs in their first season in Wausau.  In their last visit to Rochester, the Ice Hawks handed the RiverWolves a surprising 13 to 4 loss.

RiverWolves players to watch-  leading scorers:    #16 Matt Irwin  (36g, 28a- 64 pts); #17 Owen Routheut (12g,13- 25 pts);  #3 Austin Burgener (4g, 21a- 25 pts).   Top goalie: #39 Henry Baribeau (5.24 gaa, 89.7 sav%).


A ‘shout out’ to the Ice Hawks players and Slapshot who participated in activities with the Raiders Adaptive Floor Hockey team this week!  The Raiders players are guests of the Ice Hawks at Friday night’s game.

The Ice Hawks season end banquet will be held at the Bowlocity Entertainment Center on Monday evening.  Team awards will be distributed at the banquet.

The following players will be recognized:  Most Valuable Player–  Luke Murphy;  Most Improved Player– Evan Burke; Unsung Hero-Justin Gibbons.

It is also noteworthy that in this most unusual season, only four players (Drew Westphal, Luke Murphy, Josh Hoffman and Jackson Kranebell) who began the season remained with the team throughout the season

Most players will be returning to their homes away from Rochester next week.
