Parents Weekend (three games- 2 home, Sunday away)

This weekend, the Ice Hawks recognize parents and host families.  On Saturday night Players, parents and host families will be introduced prior to the game vs the LaCrosse Freeze.  Housing Director Dawn Larson  and Traci Prindle (Player Coordinator) will coordinate the weekend’s activities.

On Friday,  Breezy Point makes a return visit to the Rec. Center.  The North Stars lead the Western Division of the NA3HL with an 11-3-1 record.  Their one overtime loss was against the Ice Hawks in Breezy Point.    North Star players to watch- leading scorers:  #26 Josh Laven  (13g+15a=28pts) and #22 Tristyn Sabina (12g+16a=28pts; Goalies #1 Bronson Moore (2.34gaa, ,925Sav.%) and # 30 Magnus Lindhe (3.04gaa, ,909Sav.%)

On Saturday, Lacrosse makes its first visit of the season to Rochester.  The Freeze are currently in 2nd place in the Central Division of the NA3HL.  The Freeze defeated the Ice Hawks 5-1 in LaCrosse last Sunday.  The Hawks travel to LaCrosse  on Sunday for a 12:00 game.   Freeze players to watch-  leading  scorers #21 Sam Dabrowski (7g+5a=12pts)  and #3 JP Eyken (7g+5a=12pts).  Goalies- #30 Jacob Silverstein (4.00gaa, ,870Sav.%) and # 0 Andrew Wagner(24.43gaa, ,9886Sav.%).

Player News
Michael Smits will be eligible to play this weekend after serving  a four game league suspension. Goaltender Marco Zink, Smits high school teammate will be joining the Ice Hawks during the week of November 7th.  Incidentally, Zink who recently enlisted in the National Guard will be the Ice Hawks first military member to play as an Ice Hawks.

Injuries-  The Ice Hawks are slowly beginning to rebound from their streak of injuries.  Three players are still out with serious injuries:  forward Willie Meyer is not expected back until mid to late December.  Forward Charlie Bill is expected out for another one to two weeks with a lower body injury and defenseman Nick Wagner remains unavailable with an upper body injury.  Split season player Daytin Zimmerman-Fatis was injured in last Saturday’s loss to the No. Iowa Bulls but should be available for the weekend.  He will be returning to his Mankato East squad for the remainder of the High School season after this weekend.  Another High Schooler, Trevor Timm will be available for the remainder of the season.  He competed in football for his Wabasha HS team but will now be available to the Hawks.

Upcoming events
Next weekend features a two game home stand  vs Wisconsin Whalers.   On Friday and Saturday, Tom McDermott brings his Whalers to Rochester for their first visit of the 2016-17 season.  Coach McDermott is well  known to Hawks fans:  He previously served as co-head coach with the Ice Hawks.

On Saturday night the Ice Hawks honor veterans and active military service personnel.  The Hawks will wear special jerseys on Saturday night.  The Jerseys will be auctioned  (silent auction) during the game with proceed going to support military families.  Fans will be able to bid on their favorite player’s jersey throughout the game.  Military Appreciation night is one of two major charitable events (Breast Cancer Awareness)  which highlight the home schedule.
