ICE HAWKS Weekend Edition December 2nd and December 3rd,2016

Two Game Weekend
Friday, December 2, 2016  Alexandria Blizzard vs Ice Hawks 7:05 pm Rec. Center
Saturday, December 3, 2016 at   Willmar Warhawks.
                                                                         
On Friday night the Alexandria Blizzard who are 11-7 and in 3rd place in the NA3HL’s West Division come to the Rec. Center.   Coach Jeff Crouse (a former Ice Hawks player) leads a squad that defeated the Hawks in Alexandria by a score of  3-1 on  Nov 23rd. Players to watch for the Blizzard- Leading Scorers: #16 Emil Lindfors (15g 12a-  27pts); #15 Caleb Anderson (9g 16a-  25pts); #17 Brenden Payne (7g 15a-  22pts); and #21 Logan  Nelson (9g 12a-  21pts).  Leading goalies-  #33 Michael Hughes (2.18 gaa/.914 Save%)  and # 1 Brey Effertz  (3.07 gaa/.878 Save%).  Goalie Tyler Thompson who started the season with the Ice Hawks but was subseqiemtly traded is a back up with the Blizzard)

The games this weekend will mark the final Ice Hawks games until the NA3HL Showcase in Blaine, MN December 16-18. After the Showcase the players will return to their home for the Christmas break.  The Hawks resume play on Dec. 30th in Mason Ciity and return to the Rec.Center for Rochester’s Traditional New Year’s Eve game vs the No. Iowa Bulls

All games at Schwan’s Super Rink, Blaine, MN.  Games will be webcast on HockeyTV (Fast Hockey) on a ppv basis.

Matthew Shupert

The Hawks continue to add to their squad.  They signed a local (Byron) player Matthew Shupert who formerly played with the Blaine Energy of the USPHL. Shupert played his high school hockey for Dodge County under Coach Hofmann.  Matthew, a 5’11, 155 lbs forward, will wear jersey #7 for the Hawks.  He will be in the lineup for this weekend’s games.

Injuries- 
Johnny Zwarych, Matthew Bembenek and Willie Meyer are recovering from injuries and will not be available to play this weekend.  Charlie Bill has participated in practices this week and may be ready to play this weekend.

Other player news-
Forward Colin Hass will be unavailable for Friday night’s game.  The Hawks continue to seek players who can help the team

The Ice Hawks ’Toys For Tots’ Toy Toss on Friday Dec. 2nd will be our last before Christmas .  Buy an extra stuffed animal  for tonight’s game!   Last year, Toys For Tots collected nearly 24.000 Toys and delivered them to over 10,000 children across Southeast Minnesota.
