The pocket schedule erroneously identified Friday’s game as an away game
The first weekend of 2018 features a two game home series with the Wisconsin Whalers. The Whalers are led by Coach Tommy McDermott. Tom previously served as the Ice Hawks Co Head Coach with Nick Fatis in the years 2002-2006. Tom has many friends in Rochester and we are always eager to welcome him back. The 10- 16-1- 1 Whalers are currently in 3rd place in the Central Division behind the North Iowa Bulls and LaCrosse Freeze.
Whalers players to watch- leading scorers: #15 Nick Rogers (24g, 27a- 51 pts); #9 Carter Grobstick (5g,11a- 16 pts); #14 Anthony Fortin (9g, 16a- 25 pts) top goalie(s): #1 Brendan Earls (4.59 gaa, 88.6 sav%), 30 Alex Huffard (4.89 gaa, 88.2 sav%).
#11 Trevor Timm of Wabasha returns to the Rec. Center as a member of the Whalers. Trevor played with the Ice Hawks earlier this season and last season.
Ice Hawks News-
The Ice Hawks continue to bring in players to strengthen their roster. Brooks Hatfield is a forward from California who is a three year Junior veteran. He previously played in the USPHL-Premier league. Brooks will bring experience and stability to the Hawks. Justin Gibbons from Wisconsin played with the Hawks in the Showcase in Blaine. He will be a good addition to the new group of players that Coach Blaisuis has gathered in rebuilding the team. We expect several more additions in the coming week.
