Junior hockey: Ice Hawks can't hold lead, fall to Whalers

The Rochester Ice Hawks held a lead after the opening period Friday, but they couldn't hold off the Wisconsin Whalers.

The Whalers scored three times in the second period to take a permanent lead en route to a 6-4 North American 3 Hockey League victory at the Rochester Recreation Center.

Dominik Bogdzuil and Trey McMillen scored in the first period for Rochester, while Ben Koester and Justin Sweet scored in the third. Bogdzuil had an opportunity to pull the Ice Hawks within one with 57 seconds remaining, but his penalty shot was unsuccessful.
