Junior hockey: Ice Hawks snap losing streak in convincing fashion

The Rochester Ice Hawks snapped their five-game losing streak in convincing fashion on Friday, and they did so against a team that beat them up just a week ago.

Five players scored once each for the Ice Hawks as they rolled to a 5-1 North American 3 Hockey League victory against the Wisconsin Whalers at the Rochester Recreation Center. The victory comes on the heels of Rochester's two losses to the Whalers last weekend, by a combined score of 14-0.

Friday, Rochester goalie Zach Mains assured the Ice Hawks their losing streak wouldn't hit six. He stopped 34 of the 35 shots he faced, including 14 in the first period. Wisconsin outshot the Ice Hawks 35-31 in the game.
