Junior hockey: Lumberjacks chop down Ice Hawks

ST. CLOUD — The Rochester Ice Hawks hung with the Granite City Lumberjacks through two periods, but Granite City pulled away in the third for a 7-0 North American 3 Hockey League victory on Friday.

Granite City outshot Rochester 50-13.

Ice Hawks goalie Sawyer Schmidt stopped 39 of the 45 shots he saw. Drew Schenkenberg made four saves on five shots in relief.

David Mulligan recorded a 13-save shutout for Granite City, which was led by Keenan Lund’s two goals and one assist.

Granite City (2-0-0 overall) and Rochester (0-3-0) play again tonight, at 7:05 p.m. at the Rochester Recreation Center.
