Junior hockey roundup: Ice Hawks, Bruins drop weekend games

WILLMAR — Drew Schenkenberg made 28 saves, but Willmar edged the Rochester Ice Hawks 4-2 in a North American 3 Hockey League game on Saturday.

The score was tied 1-1 after one period, but Willmar scored twice in the second period to take the lead for good.

Ethan Sievek scored at 4:46 of the third period to pull Rochester within 3-2, but Kane Toriumu completed his hat trick for Willmar three minutes later to make it a 4-2 score.

Zach Curry also scored for the Ice Hawks (3-19-1 overall), while Skylar Watt and Austyn Renn had one assist each.

Alexander Cathcart made 23 saves for Willmar (9-9-1).

Rochester plays next on Dec. 16 against the Point Mallard Ducks in the NA3HL Showcase.
