Two former Rochester Mayo standouts scored in a shootout to lift the Rochester Ice Hawks to a 5-4 North American 3 Hockey League victory against the Chicago Bulldogs after a shootout at the Rochester Recreation Center on Friday.
The win marked the first for new Ice Hawks head coach Eric Hofmann, who took over in that position last week.
Dylan Boysen and Austyn Renn scored for Rochester to win the shootout 2-1 and the game 5-4.
The Ice Hawks led 1-0 after one period. The score was tied 3-3 after two and 4-4 at the end of regulation.
Renn and Zach Curry both had a goal and an assist in regulation, while Ethan Sievek and Alex Tarr had a goal each. Skylar Watt had two assists, and Boysen and Spencer Hadacek had one each.
Drew Schenkenberg made 30 saves to earn the victory for the Hawks (3-16-1).
The Bulldogs (0-18-1) and the Ice Hawks play again at 7:05 p.m. tonight at the Rec Center.
