The Rochester Ice Hawks completed the NA3HL draft on Tuesday night, drafting six players in the one-day draft.

“I am extremely happy how our draft went,” Ice Hawks head coach Eric Hofmann tweeted on Tuesday. “I am equally excited to get the Ice Hawks started this season.”

The Ice Hawks selected Pine City High School forward Brendan Westbrook with their first round pick on Tuesday. Hofmann told ABC 6 News he is a “very offensively talented forward”, who will attract Tier 2 and potentially Tier 1 hockey interest.

“Brendan will be an impact player, providing size, speed, creativity, and superior firepower to our offensive attack,” Hofmann said. “I’ve been following his high school career from a distance the past three seasons. I reached out to him for the first time before the draft, and it became a realistic opportunity for us to protect him.”

If Westbrook were to stay put in Tier 3 hockey, Hofmann said he believes the Med City is the perfect fit. “We believe Rochester is an excellent place for him to further develop his abilities,” Hofmann said. “He can hone in on his craft before making a splash in the upper echelons of junior hockey.”

Westbrook could join the Ice Hawks for training camp in August.
